Changes in Trauma-Informed Practice in a Post-Pandemic World

As professionals working with children, trauma-informed training supports our understanding of the physical, emotional, and behavioural impacts of trauma.

The education workforce—teachers, support staff, and child development officers—were the unseen frontline during the pandemic. Their roles have evolved significantly, and they now face increasing complexity in responding to behaviours rooted in developmental delay, distress, or deficit

The key difference is all our lived experiences have been shaped by post pandemic trauma, and this has gone unrecognised as we strive to return to the “new normal”. This workshop invites participants to shift their perspective, deepen their understanding, and gain confidence in responding effectively to the emotional needs of children, families and staff in today’s evolving landscape

Key Learning Outcomes:

  1. Explore current research into post-pandemic communication, social, and emotional development in children.
  2. Reflect on how we frame concepts of childhood delay, distress, and developmental deficits.
  3. Use a developmental framework to uncover clues and insights into both children’s and staff’s emotional struggles.

This session runs from 4 - 5pm, is for AHDS members and is free to attend.
